We talk about Kevin, and all the other great ideas that have made Archie Comics one of the most innovative publishers in comics. Gerry Conway returns to talk about his days at DC Comics, from his first works starting in 1969, and his early 70's return that included a lot of work on Superman. More Bronze Age DC talk with former colorist Anthony Tollin. Today Anthony is the publisher that is re-presenting the original stories of THE SHADOW, DOC SAVAGE, and other pulp heroes.Check out his catalog of books here. On this episode of Word Balloon, we check in with Greg Rucka , who with artist Rick Burchett and webmaster Eric Newsom have begun their Kickstarter campign for the Web comic Lady Sabre and The Pirates Of The Ineffable Aether . As of this posting they have exceeded their initial goal, but as Greg points out that means there are more books that can be published beyond the 192 page OGN. We also discuss Greg & Michael Lrk's new Image comic Lazarus, which begins in late June. Then fresh from his FCBD siging in Chicago we catch up with Jamal Igle . His new female hero Molly bdanger also had a successful kickstarter campaign, and now the character made her print debut in Action Lab's FCBD book. We talk about how Jamal created the character, what he learned fom his KS experience, and what's next for both Jamal & Molly Danger. Writer Charles Soule makes his Word Balloon debut, talking about his current work at DC (Swamp Thing & Red Lanterns) Marvel (Thunderbolts) and 2 exciting creator owned projects from Archaia (Strange Attractors out next week), and Oni Press (Letter 44 coming in October )
